World Population Day 2022 : 11th July

World Population Day is celebrated every year on 11 July to divert the attention of the world to the issues of population. Overpopulation has become a serious concern as the world’s resources are being used at an unsustainable rate. The main objective of World Population Day 2022 is to raise awareness about all the negative effects of population growth on the sustainable development of nature.

Theme :

The theme of World Population Day 2022 is “A World of 8 billion: Towards a resilient future for all- Harnessing Opportunities and ensuring rights and choices for all”.

History :

In 1989, World Population Day was established by the Governing Council of the United National Development Program as an outgrowth of interest arising from 5 Billion Days, which was celebrated on July 11, 1987. By the time, it is now necessary to create awareness among the public about the issues of population and development & their impact on the environment.
