World TB Day is celebrated every year on 24th March. TB disease is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria. It is also called tuberculosis. Lakhs of TB patients come to the fore every year in India. TB is an infectious disease, but not incurable. If this disease is treated in time, then it can be completely cured.

History :
On this day in 1882, Dr. Robert Koch announced the discovery of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, a bacterium that causes tuberculosis, and his discovery paved the way for the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. This discovery of Dr. Robert Koch later proved to be very helpful in the treatment of TB. Because of his discovery, Dr. Robert Koch was also awarded the Nobel Prize in the year 1905. India accounts for about 26% of the total TB cases worldwide.
