World Teacher’s Day 2022 : 5th October

World Teacher’s Day or International Teacher’s Day is celebrated every year on 5th October. It is a day to celebrate, thank and honor teachers for their contributions to their students. On this day, many people come together and organize meetings, conferences and the like to identify the problems being faced by teachers in the country as well as globally and to find solutions to those issues.

Theme :

The Theme is “The Transformation of Education Begins with Teachers”.

History :

Established in 1994 following the recommendation of UNESCO concerning teachers, the day is celebrated in 1996 as “Teaching in Freedom”. In 1994, 5th October was declared as World Teachers’ Day by UNESCO in honor of the adoption of the UNESCO/ILO recommendation. Following the adoption of this recommendation, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) declared 5th October as World Teachers’ Day.

Significance :

On World Teacher’s Day, the service of teachers and their contribution to education is saluted. It is an opportunity to reflect on the challenges related to the teaching profession. The day is an occasion to address the issues related to the teaching profession and to recognize the rights and responsibilities of teachers.
