World Water Day 2023 : 22nd March

World Water Day is observed every year on 22 March to emphasize the importance of water and create awareness about the global water crisis. The primary purpose of celebrating this day is to promote the achievement of SDG 6, which aims to provide access to clean water and sanitation for all by 2030. The day is dedicated to raising awareness about water-related issues, such as water pollution, water scarcity, inadequate water supply and inadequate sanitation. It aims to inspire individuals to sustainably manage fresh water resources and take the necessary actions to address these issues.

History :

The United Nations General Assembly designated 22 March as World Water Day in 1993 following a recommendation made by the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1992. Importance of fresh water resources and promotion of sustainable management of water resources.
