World’s 1st 200 meter tall bamboo crash barrier was installed on the Vani-Warora highway in Vidarbha.

  • The world’s first 200 meter tall bamboo crash barrier has been installed on the Vani-Worora highway in Vidarbha, Maharashtra, a remarkable achievement towards achieving the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
  • This bamboo crash barrier named Bahu Balli was rigorously tested at various government institutes like National Automotive Test Tracks (NATRAX) at Pithampur, Indore.
  • It was rated Class 1 during the fire rating test conducted at the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) in Roorkee. Additionally, it is also recognized by the Indian Road Congress.
  • The recycling value of bamboo barriers is 50-70 percent while that of steel barriers is 30-50 percent.
