India celebrated its 80th Independence Day on 15 August 2026 at the Red Fort, New Delhi, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the national celebrations.

- Vande Mataram: The celebrations marked 150 years of Vande Mataram, which was rendered at the Red Fort for the first time during Independence Day celebrations.
- Flag Hoisting: The National Flag was hoisted with a 21-gun salute, while two IAF Mi-17 helicopters showered flower petals.
- Shakti ki Sapt Dhara: PM Modi outlined seven areas of national strength—manufacturing, agriculture & food processing, technology & innovation, connectivity, defence, green & blue economy, and soft power.
- AI Translation: The Prime Minister’s speech was translated live into 22 Indian languages using Digital India Bhashini.
- Youth Participation: Around 2,500 NCC cadets and MY Bharat volunteers formed “Vande Mataram” on Gyanpath.
- Special Guests: 19 Indian Olympiad medallists and around 5,000 invitees from diverse sections of society attended the celebrations.
