Krishna Jayasankar becomes first Indian woman to cross 16m in indoor shot put

Indian shot putter Krishna Jayasankar made history at the 2025 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 2, 2025, by becoming the first Indian woman to surpass the 16-metre mark in indoor shot put. She achieved a record-breaking throw of 16.03 metres, surpassing the previous Indian indoor record of 15.54 metres, set by Poornarao Rane at the 2023 American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships.

A Stunning Comeback to Win Bronze

Initially placed fourth, Krishna delivered her best performance in the final round, securing the bronze medal.
