PM Modi Conferred Brazil’s Highest Civilian Honour

On 8 July 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred Brazil’s highest civilian award, the Grand Collar of the National Order of the Southern Cross, by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Brasilia.

PM Modi thanked Brazil’s government and citizens, calling the honour a tribute to India’s 1.4 billion people and the India–Brazil friendship.

He acknowledged President Lula’s role in founding the India–Brazil Strategic Partnership and said the award would further inspire the people of both nations to strengthen their ties.

This is PM Modi’s 26th international honour, and the third award on his current five-nation diplomatic tour that began on July 2.
