The Central Government has appointed Anurag Jain, a 1989-batch IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog on 22 July 2026.
The appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) and will be effective from the date he assumes office, for up to two years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Anurag Jain has held several important administrative positions in both the Central and Madhya Pradesh governments.
Earlier in 2026, Ashok Kumar Lahiri was appointed as the Vice Chairperson of NITI Aayog, replacing Suman K. Bery. Several new full-time members were also appointed.
