Saudi authorities arrest Omani co-pilot for stabbing captain and attempting to crash Flydubai flight;

Saudi authorities have arrested an Omani co-pilot after he stabbed the captain and attempted to crash a Flydubai flight traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv in Israel on 30 September 2026.

  • The Omani co-pilot stabbed the captain and caused the aircraft to plunge roughly 17,400 feet in under two minutes yesterday.
  • The Israeli Prime Minister described Captain Smit Machchhar, an Indian national, as a true hero who saved the lives of 174 people on board the Israel-bound flight.

Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav launches guidelines for National Coastal Mission 2.0

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav launched the Guidelines for the implementation of the National Coastal Mission (NCM) 2.0, in New Delhi on 30 September 2026.

  • The Central Sector Scheme, with an approved outlay of 767 crore rupees, will be implemented until 2030-31 across nine coastal states and four Union Territories of the country.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today approved an increase in the Minimum Support Prices (MSPs), for all mandated Rabi crops for the Marketing Season 2027-28.

2nd ODI: Gill’s unbeaten 223, Rohit’s century sets up India’s record chase of 406

Driven by a record-shattering unbeaten 223 off 133 balls by skipper Gill and a vintage 75-ball 101 from his opening partner Rohit Sharma, India pulled off their highest successful men’s ODI run-chase by hunting down a monumental 406-run target set by the West Indies to seal an eight-wicket win with 39 balls to spare on 1 October 2026.

  • It also marked the second-highest successful run-chase of all time in 50-over cricket, after South Africa hunted down 438 against Australia in 2006, as India made a daunting multi-hundred target look like effortless work.
  • India motored to its fifty in seven overs before sprinting to 100 inside 12 overs.
  • By the time India reached 200 in 21.1 overs, their fastest team double-hundred in 50-over cricket, the West Indies attack was visually demoralised.

Asian Games: Indian archers and shooters strike gold; India’s medal tally rises to 60

India enjoyed its most successful day at the ongoing Asian Games in Japan so far, winning four gold medals today on 30 September 2026.
