Lalit Kala Akademi Announces 20 Awards at 65th National Exhibition of Art
Lalit Kala Akademi has announced the 20 Lalit Kala Akademi Awards at the 65th National Exhibition of Art on 27 September 2026.
- The Lalit Kala Akademi, National Academy of Art, is organising the 65th National Exhibition of Art.
- This is one of the most prestigious annual exhibitions of contemporary visual art in India.
- They added that akademi received around six thousand artworks from more than two thousand artists representing 27 States and Union Territories.

Exercise Tarang Shakti 2026 begins operational phase at Jodhpur with seven foreign Air Forces
The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Saturday commenced the operational phase of Exercise Tarang Shakti 2026 at Air Force Station Jodhpur, bringing together air forces from India and seven friendly foreign countries for advanced joint training and operational cooperation.
- The multilateral air exercise, being conducted from September 26 to October 12, is themed “Power in Partnership”, highlighting the importance of cooperation, interoperability, shared expertise and mutual trust among participating air forces.
- The participating foreign aircraft include the F-35 Lightning II, Rafale, F-16, A400M, MRTT, C-130, C-130J and KC-30A, bringing together a mix of combat aircraft, airlift platforms and air-to-air refuelling capabilities.
- Building on the first edition of Exercise Tarang Shakti held in 2024, the 2026 exercise provides participating air forces an opportunity to undertake advanced joint training, exchange operational expertise and strengthen professional experience.

India has secured the 10th position at the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai, China on 27 September 2026.

- The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship informed that India won six Silver Medals and 20 Medals for Excellence at the competition.
- Congratulating Team India on its performance, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Chaudhary said, the Team India’s remarkable performance at the event marks a significant leap in our global skills journey.

Amit Shah flags off India’s first LNG-powered train, inaugurates Rs 1,472 crore railway projects in Ahmedabad
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday inaugurated development projects worth ₹1,472 crore and flagged off the country’s first LNG-powered train from Sabarmati Railway Station in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on 27 September 2026.
- HM Shah also inaugurated a WAG-12 Maintenance Shed, constructed at a cost of ₹700 crore for maintenance of railway locomotive engines.
- The projects inaugurated and launched during the programme include the WAG-12 Maintenance Shed, installation of the Kavach train protection system on the Sabarmati–Kalol–Sabarmati section and the commencement of Kavach-related work on the Ahmedabad–Palanpur and Ahmedabad–Samakhiali sections.
- The Sabarmati–Kalol–Sabarmati Kavach project has been undertaken at a cost of ₹48 crore, according to the government.

- Gill was dismissed after scoring 110 off 108 balls, including 13 fours and a six, and received a standing ovation as he walked back.
Asian Games: India clinch Silver medals in Women’s long jump, Men’s high jump and both Squash Singles
At the Asian Games in Japan, India’s Ancy Sojan Edappilly has won the silver medal in the women’s long jump at Aichi-Nagoya in Japan today on 27 September 2026.
- In Squash, the country clinched two silver medals with Abhay Singh winning silver in the Men’s Singles and Anahat Singh bagging a silver medal in Women’s Singles’ events.
- Harita Bhadra won the bronze in the women’s 200 metres event and Parul Chaudhary won bronze medal in women’s 3000m steeplechase event.
- Currently, India is at 12th position in medal tally with a total of 37 medals, including four gold, 16 sliver and 17 bronze medals.
India retain Nona Gaprindashvili Trophy at Chess Olympiad in Uzebkistan
India defended the prestigious Nona Gaprindashvili Trophy at the 46th Chess Olympiad in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, finishing as the best overall nation after picking up a silver in the Open section and a bronze in the Women’s event on 27 September 2026.
- This marks the third straight edition where India have won the trophy, having claimed it on home turf in 2022, during their historic double-gold campaign in Budapest in 2024, including the latest in Samarkand.
- The Uzbekistan team regained the gold medal in the open section after winning the final round game against Ukraine by a 2,5-1.5 points.
- The Uzbeks ended with 20 points out of a possible 22, winning as many as 10 rounds and losing a lone match against Germany.
