The Government of India has approved a one-year extension in the service of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri until 14 July 2027. The decision was cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). A 1989-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, Vikram Misri assumed office as Foreign Secretary on 15 July 2024.
During his diplomatic career, he served as India’s Ambassador to China (2019–2021) and was Private Secretary to three Prime Ministers—I.K. Gujral, Dr. Manmohan Singh, and Narendra Modi.
