On 5 October 2026, India and Switzerland signed five agreements in New Delhi following talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Swiss President Guy Parmelin.
- The agreements cover Migration and Mobility Partnership, Exchange of Young Professionals, and cooperation in transportation technologies, mobility systems and infrastructure.
- A Letter of Intent was signed between India’s Department of Science and Technology and the Swiss National Science Foundation.
- Another agreement focuses on cooperation in innovation, technology transfer and entrepreneurship.
- India highlighted the India–EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), under which India aims to attract US$100 billion in investment and create 10 lakh direct jobs over 15 years.
- The two countries also discussed increasing Swiss investment in sectors including biotechnology, life sciences, banking, insurance, food processing and sustainability.
- Cooperation was also discussed in defence production, military exchanges and nuclear energy.
- Swiss President Guy Parmelin arrived in India on a three-day state visit and received a ceremonial welcome in New Delhi.
