Lokhande Prashant Sitaram Appointed New CBSE Chairperson

On 2 June 2026, The Government of India has appointed Lokhande Prashant Sitaram as the new Chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). He succeeds Nidhi Chhibber, who completed her tenure.

At the same time, the Ministry of Education has formed a high-level committee to examine the procurement process related to the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system used by CBSE for evaluation of answer sheets. The panel will review transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the digital marking system and suggest improvements.

CBSE, established in 1962 and headquartered in New Delhi, is India’s largest national education board and conducts major examinations such as Class 10 and 12 Board Exams and CTET. The latest developments aim to strengthen the administration and evaluation processes of the board.
