The Ministry of Defence (MoD) signed a ₹811 crore contract with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) on 25 September 2026 for the supply of 160 Smart Anti-Airfield Weapons (SAAW) to the Indian Air Force (IAF).
The SAAW, developed by DRDO and manufactured by BDL, is a precision-guided standoff weapon with a range of up to 100 km, designed to target enemy airfield runways, bunkers and other infrastructure. The procurement will strengthen the IAF’s precision-strike and airfield-denial capabilities while supporting indigenous defence production under Atmanirbhar Bharat.
