Under the new CBSE policy, how many Indian languages must a student study in Classes 9–10 from July 1, 2026?

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that from July 1, 2026, students of Classes 9 and 10 will be required to study three languages. Under the revised policy, at least two of these must be Indian languages, while the third may be a foreign language.

केंद्रीय माध्यमिक शिक्षा बोर्ड (CBSE) ने घोषणा की है कि 1 जुलाई, 2026 से कक्षा 9 और 10 के छात्रों के लिए तीन भाषाओं का अध्ययन करना अनिवार्य होगा। संशोधित नीति के तहत, इन तीन भाषाओं में से कम से कम दो भारतीय भाषाएँ होनी चाहिए, जबकि तीसरी भाषा कोई विदेशी भाषा हो सकती है।
