On 2 July 2026, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi successfully demonstrated an indigenous AI-enabled tethered aerostat surveillance system developed under a Defence Research and Development Organisation-supported project in collaboration with deep-tech startups. The helium-filled 24 m³ aerostat was deployed at a height of 30 metres and could carry a payload of up to 10 kg for surveillance, security, and communication purposes.

2 जुलाई 2026 को Indian Institute of Technology Delhi ने Defence Research and Development Organisation के सहयोग से विकसित स्वदेशी AI-सक्षम टेथर्ड एयरोस्टैट निगरानी प्रणाली का सफल प्रदर्शन किया। हीलियम से भरे 24 घन मीटर (24 m³) क्षमता वाले इस एयरोस्टैट को 30 मीटर की ऊँचाई तक तैनात किया गया तथा यह 10 किलोग्राम तक का पेलोड लेकर निगरानी, सुरक्षा एवं संचार कार्यों के लिए उपयोग किया जा सकता है।
