Retired Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra appointed as first CEO of Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Kshetra Trust
In Uttar Pradesh, Former Commander of Western Air Command, Retired Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra is appointed as first CEO of Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Kshetra Trust in Ayodhya on 2 September 2026.
- The appointment was announced after the meeting of trust held at Maniram Das Chhawani in Ayodhya under the chairmanship of trust president Mahant Nritya Gopal Das.

India’s sovereign credit rating upgraded to ‘A-‘ with Stable Outlook by Japan Credit Rating Agency
Japan Credit Rating Agency (JCR) has upgraded India’s Long-Term Foreign Currency and Local Currency Issuer Ratings by one notch from ‘BBB+’ to ‘A-’, while maintaining the Stable Outlook on 3 September 2026.
- JCR has also raised India’s country ceiling by one notch to ‘A’.
- The Finance Ministry said that the upgrade reflects India’s solid economic growth, the effectiveness of economic policies in strengthening the foundations for growth, and the improved soundness of the financial system.
- The Ministry said that the upgrade comes against the backdrop of a challenging global environment and underscores the continued strengthening of India’s economic fundamentals, supported by sustained growth, effective economic policies, improved fiscal quality and a stronger financial system.
- In a statement, JCR noted that the Indian economy has maintained a high growth rate, supported by robust private consumption and public investment.

ICC approves India as new host of Women’s Champions Trophy 2027 inaugural
The International Cricket Council today moved the inaugural Women’s Champions Trophy 2027 to India from Sri Lanka.
- Matches will be played in Mumbai and Vadodara from 14th to 28th of February.
- Six-team – Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka will participate.
- Sri Lanka was dropped as host as the sport is grappling with governance issues.

ISRO to launch Earth observation satellite EOS-05 from Sriharikota tomorrow
Narayanan has said that the EOS-05 Earth observation satellite will be launched tomorrow on 3 September 2026.
- The satellite is scheduled to lift off at 2:55 AM aboard the GSLV-F17 rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota.
- Mr Narayanan said EOS-05 is a state-of-the-art Earth observation spacecraft and India’s first imaging satellite to be placed in a geosynchronous orbit.
Legal Metrology (Indian Standard Time) Rules, 2026 Notified: Major Step Towards “One Nation, One Time”
The Government of India has notified the Legal Metrology (Indian Standard Time) Rules, 2026, marking a significant step towards establishing Indian Standard Time (IST) as the common, legally recognised and traceable time reference for the country.
- The Rules, notified by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, on 27 August 2026 and published in the Official Gazette on 29 August 2026, provide a comprehensive framework for the generation, maintenance, dissemination and use of IST.
- The Legal Metrology (LM) Department under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs (MoCA) is the regulatory and enforcement authority under the Legal Metrology framework, while the CSIR-National Physical Laboratory (CSIR-NPL), India’s National Metrology Institute, provides the scientific foundation and traceability for IST.
- The Rules will come into force 180 days from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
- The initiative supports the Government’s vision of “One Nation, One Time”, ensuring that critical sectors and digital systems across the country operate with a common and reliable time reference.
