India Develops First Indigenous 350 kg Thrust Class Expendable Turbo Jet Engine

India has successfully developed its first indigenous Expendable Turbo Jet Engine in the 350 kg thrust class, marking a major milestone in the country’s defence technology.

The engine was designed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) through its Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE). It was successfully manufactured and delivered to GTRE by Azad Engineering.

The Ministry of Defence described the achievement as a result of years of precision engineering, advanced manufacturing, and collaboration between DRDO and the Indian defence industry. Since jet engine technology is among the world’s most complex engineering fields, this development significantly strengthens India’s indigenous defence capabilities.

Defence Secretary and DRDO Chairman Rajesh Kumar Singh congratulated GTRE and Azad Engineering, calling the project a historic milestone in India’s journey toward self-reliance in defence technology.
