On 20 April 2026, Indian Railways announced that Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) holding a valid UDID (Unique Disability ID) card can now travel in unreserved coaches reserved for Divyangjan in Mail and Express trains. PwDs with a valid UDID or concession eligibility will be treated as bona fide passengers and allowed in designated compartments such as SLRD and LSLRD coaches, provided they have valid travel authority. Strict action under the Railway Act, 1989 will be taken against unauthorized passengers to ensure facilities reaches genuine beneficiaries. All Zonal Railways have been instructed to ensure proper implementation.
The Divyangjan Card (EPICS) enables PwDs to avail travel concessions and can be obtained through official portals based on a valid disability certificate.
