ISRO to Launch NVS-03 Navigation Satellite Aboard GSLV-F18

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is scheduled to launch the NVS-03 navigation satellite aboard the GSLV-F18 rocket on 30 October 2026 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.

  • NVS-03 is the third satellite in ISRO’s second-generation Navigation Satellite Series (NVS).
  • The mission aims to strengthen NavIC (Navigation with Indian Constellation), India’s indigenous regional satellite navigation system.
  • NVS-03 is equipped with an indigenous atomic clock and will transmit navigation signals in L1, L5 and S bands. The L1 band will improve compatibility with civilian navigation devices.
  • NavIC provides Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) services across India and up to 1,500 km beyond India’s borders.
  • The satellite will be placed into Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) before being moved to its designated operational orbit.

The mission is an important step towards improving the reliability and continuity of NavIC services and strengthening India’s self-reliance in satellite-based navigation technology.
