Monsoon Session of Parliament 2026 Begins

The Monsoon Session of Parliament 2026 commenced on 20 July 2026 and will continue until 13 August 2026, with 19 sittings spread over 25 days. The opening day witnessed repeated adjournments in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha due to Opposition protests over issues including the NEET paper leak, the Ram Temple donation controversy, and student demonstrations.

During the session, the government has planned to introduce several important bills, including the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026, Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026, MSME Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026, Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, and the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which seeks to extend legal protection to Vande Mataram. The session is expected to focus on judicial reforms, taxation, education, MSME development, and national honour legislation.
