On 7 August 2026, the Union Cabinet approved the GOBARdhan National Circular Bioenergy Scheme to significantly boost India's Compressed Biogas (CBG) production. The scheme aims to increase domestic CBG production by nearly ten times through the efficient use of agricultural residues, cattle dung, municipal solid waste, and other organic waste. It supports the goals of clean energy, waste management, rural income generation, and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
7 अगस्त 2026 को केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने गोबरधन राष्ट्रीय सर्कुलर बायोएनर्जी योजना को मंजूरी दी। इस योजना का उद्देश्य कृषि अवशेष, गोबर, नगर ठोस अपशिष्ट तथा अन्य जैविक कचरे का उपयोग करके संपीड़ित बायोगैस (CBG) के घरेलू उत्पादन को लगभग दस गुना बढ़ाना है। यह योजना स्वच्छ ऊर्जा को बढ़ावा देने, अपशिष्ट प्रबंधन में सुधार, ग्रामीण आय बढ़ाने तथा जीवाश्म ईंधन पर निर्भरता कम करने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाएगी।
