Bharat Taxi Launched: India’s First Driver-Owned Cooperative Ride-Hailing Platform

On 27 June 2026, Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched Bharat Taxi, India’s first cooperation-based, driver-owned ride-hailing platform, in Gujarat. The service has been launched in 14 cities of Gujarat, with a statewide rollout planned within a month.

About Bharat Taxi

Based on the principle “Saarthi Hi Maalik” (Driver is the Owner), the platform gives drivers ownership and allows them to keep 100% of their earnings under a zero-commission model. Drivers also receive insurance, loans, pensions, and other government welfare benefits.

For passengers, Bharat Taxi offers surge-free pricing, safety support through Gujarat Police, and multiple transport options including bikes, autos, and cabs.
