The Indian Navy and US Navy have commenced the 8th edition of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Exercise 2026 at Southern Naval Command, Kochi, from 10–14 August 2026. The five-day bilateral exercise involves specialist diving and EOD teams from both navies.
The exercise focuses on underwater explosive threats, salvage operations, modern EOD methodologies, emerging technologies and best practices. Activities include Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEEs), cross-training, equipment demonstrations and scenario-based practical exercises.
India and the US have conducted joint Salvage & EOD exercises since 2005. The 2026 exercise aims to enhance interoperability, professional cooperation and joint operational capabilities, while strengthening the broader India–US defence partnership.
