Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan released the book “Agatthiyar – The Unifier” at the Uprashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, on 15 June 2026. The book has been published by Kalaimagal magazine, a renowned Tamil literary publication with a history of over 95 years.
The book highlights the life and contributions of Sage Agatthiyar (Agastya) and his role in promoting cultural and spiritual unity across India. It portrays Agatthiyar as a bridge between the traditions of North and South India and emphasizes India’s long-standing civilisational unity.
Sage Agatthiyar is closely associated with the Pothigai Hills and the Kaveri River in Tamil Nadu. More than 100 Agatheeswarar temples dedicated to him are located in Tamil Nadu, while similar temples can also be found in Kashi (Varanasi).
