Uttar Pradesh Launches Chief Minister’s Teachers’ Cashless Medical Scheme

The Uttar Pradesh Government has launched the Chief Minister’s Teachers’ Cashless Medical Scheme to provide cashless healthcare coverage of up to ₹5 lakh to teachers and non-teaching staff. The scheme was launched by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Varanasi on 8 July 2026.

Around 15 lakh beneficiaries, including teachers, non-teaching staff, Shiksha Mitras, instructors, cooks, and eligible employees of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, will receive cashless medical treatment along with their families.

The state government also signed an MoU with the State Bank of India (SBI) to provide a comprehensive social security and insurance package. Contractual employees earning more than ₹10,000 per month will receive personal accident insurance of ₹30 lakh to ₹80 lakh, with additional benefits for permanent or partial disability, air accidents, children’s education, and daughters’ marriage assistance. The scheme is described as a first-of-its-kind social security initiative for basic education department employees in India.
