RAPIDX, India’s first regional train service, will commence operations in July

The RAPIDX, India’s first regional train service, will commence operations in July on a 17-kilometer priority section. The five stations along the route are Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and the Duhai Depot. The Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) includes this section.

The safety approvals for the project have been obtained from the commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS). The project is expected to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon.

The trains have been named RAPIDX to ensure easy readability and pronunciation in various languages. The name represents speed, progress, next-generation technology, new-age mobility solution, youth, optimism, and energy.

Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS)

The Delhi–Meerut RRTS is a semi-high speed rail project that will link Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut. It is one of three rapid rail lines under the RapidX project by NCRTC. It will run at 180 km/h (111.85 mph) and take less than an hour to travel between Delhi and Meerut. The NCRTC, a joint venture company of the Centre and the state governments of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, is responsible for developing the semi-high speed regional rail service across the National Capital Region (NCR).
