World Asthma Day is an annual event that occurs on the first Tuesday of May. In 2023, World Asthma Day is observed on 2 May. It aims to raise awareness and encourage better management and care of asthma globally. The day is coordinated by the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) in partnership with healthcare providers, patient groups and public health agencies.

History :
The first World Asthma Day was celebrated in more than 35 countries in 1998, in conjunction with the first World Asthma Meeting held in Barcelona, Spain. Participation has grown with each World Asthma Day since then, and the day has become one of the world’s most important asthma awareness and education events.
