The 23rd Summit of the SCO Council of Heads of State was chaired by Prime Minister Modi, virtually on 4 July 2023.
- The SCO currently comprises eight Member States : China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan
- Observer States (Iran, Belarus, Mongolia), and Turkmenistan as the guest of the Chair attending.
- India assumed the rotating Chairmanship of the SCO at the Samarkand Summit in September of the previous year.
- The next meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State will take place in 2024 in Kazakhstan.
