Sutirtha Mukherjee and Ayhika Mukherjee, an Indian women’s doubles pair, won the World Table Tennis (WTT) Contender tournament on 27 June 2023 in Tunis.
- They defeated the Japanese pair of Miyuu Kihara and Miwa Harimoto in the final.
- The Indian duo won the final match with a score of 3-1 (11-5, 11-6, 5-11, 13-11).
- This victory made them the first Indians to win a Contender title in the current year.
- In the semifinals, Sutirtha Mukherjee and Ayhika Mukherjee defeated the Korean duo of Shin Yubin and Jeon Jihi in a hard-fought match with a score of 3-2 (7-11, 11-9, 11-9, 7-11, 11-9).
- However, the Indian mixed doubles pair of Manika Batra and G Sathiyan, as well as the men’s doubles duo of Manav Vikash Thakkar and Manush Utpalbhai Shah, lost their respective semifinal matches.
