Pro-Khalistan preacher and ‘waris punjab de’ chief Amritpal Singh, who had been on the run for a month, was arrested on 23 April 2023 from Rode village in the Moga district of Punjab in a joint operation by the Punjab Police and Intelligence wing.
National security act warrants had been issued against him. The Punjab Police had issued a Look Out Circular and non-bailable warrant against Amritpal Singh, and had arrested many of his close aides during their manhunt to capture him.
After arrest, Amritpal Singh was taken to Bathinda Airforce Station from where he was taken to Dibrugarh, Assam.
