World Squash Championship begins in Chennai.

  • The Squash World Cup 2023 is currently underway at the Express Avenue Mall in Chennai. The fourth edition of the team championship is making a comeback to the international squash calendar after 12 years and will go on till 17th June.
  • On 13th June 2023, Japan defeated South Africa, world champion Egypt defeated Australia and Malaysia defeated Colombia in a World Squash Federation Championship match.
  • Aira Azman, playing against Laura Tovar of Colombia, scored 5-7,7-0,3-7,7-1. Darren Pragasam of Malaysia defeated Juan Felipe Tovar Perez of Colombia 7-2,7-2,7-2.
  • India is playing against Hong Kong. India won the first round by defeating Hong Kong 3–0 in Chennai. Abhay Singh of India defeated Chung Yat Long of Hong Kong 7-2,7-3,7-6.
  • Egypt’s Karim el Hammamy beat Australia’s Nicholas Calvert 5-7,7-3,7,0-7-3, Fayrouz Abo Uelkheir Abouelkheir beat Jessica Turnbull,5-7,7-4,7-4,7-4 Aly Abou El Einen beat Australia’s Joseph white 7-1,7-6,7-2, Egypt’s Kenzy Ayman beat Alex Haydon 7-5,7-3,7-4.
  • In the first game, Japan defeated South Africa by a score of 3–1. Tomotaka Endo of Japan beat Jean Pierre Brits of South Africa 7-4,1-7.2-7,7-3,7-5 Satomi Watanabe of Japan beat Liezel Muller of South Africa 7-2,7-1 ,7-2 Ryunosuke Tesukyu of Japan beat Dewald van Niekerk of South Africa 4-7.7-5.7-5.7-3 Akari Midorikawa of Japan lost to South Africa’s Hayley Ward 7-5,5-7,1-7 in the first game.
