The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved an increase in Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for 14 Kharif crops for the 2025–26 marketing season. The move aims to enhance farmers’ income, encourage crop diversification, and reduce import dependence.

- Nigerseed: ₹820 (highest increase)
- Ragi: ₹596
- Cotton: ₹589
- Sesamum: ₹579
- Paddy (staple crop): ₹69
- Tur (Arhar): ₹450
- Urad: ₹400
- Moong: ₹86
- Groundnut: ₹480
- Sunflower seed: ₹441
- Soybean: ₹436
India’s Crop Calendar:
- Kharif: Sown in June-July, harvested in Oct-Nov
- Rabi: Sown in Oct-Nov, harvested Jan onwards
- Summer: Grown between Rabi and Kharif seasons
The MSP hike is part of a broader strategy to promote pulses, oilseeds, and nutri-cereals (Shree Anna), supporting both nutritional security and farmer welfare.
