Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Vadhvan Port in Maharashtra’s Palghar district on 30th August 2024. He highlighted the rapid development along India’s coast in the last decade, with modernization of ports, waterways, and increased private investment.

Vadhvan Port is expected to transform the region’s economy and support India’s growth. The project costs around ₹76,000 crore and aims to establish a world-class maritime gateway for large container vessels, improving trade and connectivity.

Additionally, Mr. Modi inaugurated 218 fisheries projects worth ₹1,560 crore and launched the Vessel Communication and Support System, with ₹364 crore allocated for installing one lakh transponders on fishing vessels across 13 coastal states and Union Territories.
