BJP retained Haryana; NC and Congress alliance secured a majority in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly

On 8 October 2024, vote counting for the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana was completed.

Haryana Assembly Elections 2024:

  • BJP secured a majority in the 90-member Haryana Legislative Assembly and retained power for the third consecutive term, winning 48 seats.
  • Congress won 37 seats, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) got 2 seats, and independents won 3 seats.

Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections 2024:

  • The National Conference and Congress alliance secured a majority with 48 seats in the 90-member Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.
  • National Conference won 42 seats, and Congress won 6 seats. BJP secured 29 seats.
  • Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won 3 seats, while Jammu & Kashmir People’s Conference, CPI(M), and Aam Aadmi Party each won 1 seat. Independents secured 7 seats.
