On 17 August 2025, BJP President JP Nadda announced that Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan will be the NDA’s candidate for the upcoming Vice Presidential Election.
- The decision was taken at the BJP parliamentary board meeting in New Delhi, attended by PM Modi, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and others.
- All NDA allies supported the decision; efforts are being made to seek consensus with opposition parties.
- The Vice Presidential Election will be held on 9 September 2025.
- The election was necessitated by the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar.
