Maharashtra, Jharkhand assembly elections in November; counting of votes on 23rd Nov

Maharashtra will hold assembly elections in a single phase on November 20, while Jharkhand will conduct its elections in two phases on November 13 and 20. The Election Commission, led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, announced the schedule for the Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly elections.

  • Maharashtra, with 9.63 crore voters, will have 288 assembly seats, and the notification for nominations will be issued on October 22.
  • Jharkhand, with 2.6 crore voters, will have polling in over 26,000 stations, with notifications for its phases on October 18 and 22.
  • Vote counting for both states will occur on November 23.

Additionally, bye-elections for 48 assembly seats and two Lok Sabha seats will be held on November 13, including the Wayanad Parliamentary seat, and the bye-polls for one assembly seat in Uttarakhand and Nanded Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra will be on November 20.
