Vedant Sakre Wins Gold as Indian Team Excels at 35th International Biology Olympiad in Kazakhstan

The Indian team achieved remarkable success at the 35th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) 2024 held in Astana, Kazakhstan, from July 7 to July 13, 2024. One student won a gold medal, and three students secured silver medals.

  • Vedant Sakre from Mumbai, Maharashtra won the gold medal.
  • Ishan Pednekar from Ratnagiri, Maharashtra; Shrijith Sivakumar from Chennai, Tamil Nadu; and Yashashwi Kumar from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, each won a silver medal.

The team was led by Prof. Sasikumar Menon from TDM Lab, Mumbai, and Dr. Mayuri Rege from Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), TIFR. Two scientific observers accompanied the team: Dr. Rajesh Patkar from IIT Bombay and Dr. Devesh Suthar from M. S. University, Baroda.
