India has emerged as the third most powerful nation in Asia, surpassing Japan in the 2024 Asia Power Index. This achievement is driven by a 4.2-point rise in India’s economic capability, fueled by strong post-COVID economic growth.
Additionally, India’s score in future resources increased by 8.2 points, reflecting the potential of its youthful population to deliver a demographic dividend in the future. India’s Diplomatic Influence also grew, with increased diplomatic activity in 2023, helping India rise in the rankings.
The Asia Power Index assesses 27 countries based on their ability to shape the regional and global environment.
