India achieved a Guinness World Record on World Kabaddi Day, March 24, 2024, with 128 players participating, held at Tau Devi Lal Indoor Stadium in Panchkula, Haryana.
- An MOU was recently signed between Holistic International Pravasi Sports Association (HIPSA) and the Government of Haryana to promote Kabaddi globally, which influenced the choice of India, particularly Haryana, as the event’s venue.
- The Guinness World Record benchmark was originally set at 84 players, but the organizers aimed for 154 players. Despite the challenge, the record was successfully broken with 128 participants after three hours of continuous play.
- The Guinness adjudicator, Mr. Swapnil Dangarikar, declared the record officially broken at 2 pm in the presence of Guinness team adjudicators.
- The Governor of Haryana, Bandaru Dattatreya, who attended the event as Chief Guest, received the Guinness World Record certificate from the Guinness team. He then presented it to Smt Kanthi D Suresh, President of HIPSA, and Shree Ashok Das, President of World Kabaddi.
