World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2025 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi from March 11

The World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2025 is set to be a landmark event in the world of para-athletics. Hosted at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi, India, from March 11 to 13, this event marks India’s first major international para-athletics competition.

A total of 283 para-athletes from 20 countries will compete in 90 athletics events, making it one of the largest para-athletics events ever hosted by India. The Indian contingent, led by Paralympic gold medallists Praveen Kumar, Navdeep Singh, and Dharambir, will be looking to make a strong impression on home soil.

The Grand Prix serves as a preparatory tournament for the World Para Athletics Championships later this year, adding an extra layer of significance to the competition. Notable international athletes, including Australia’s three-time Paralympic champion Vanessa Low and Brazil’s speedsters Joeferson Marinho and Bartolomeu Chaves, will also be participating.

  • PRAHAAR Counter-Terrorism Strategy 2026: India’s New National Policy

    On 23 February 2026, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) unveiled India’s new national counter-terrorism policy and strategy, titled PRAHAAR. The policy provides a comprehensive and proactive framework to prevent, deter and respond to evolving terrorist threats, while firmly upholding human rights and the rule of law.

    PRAHAAR is an acronym that represents a multi-dimensional approach:

    • P – Prevention of terror attacks to protect Indian citizens and interests
    • R – Swift and proportionate Responses to threats
    • A – Aggregating internal capacities through a whole-of-government approach
    • H – Human rights and Rule of Law-based processes
    • A – Attenuating conditions enabling terrorism, including radicalisation
    • A – Aligning international efforts to counter terrorism
    • R – Recovery and resilience through a whole-of-society approach

    The Ministry reiterated India’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and stressed that there can be no justification for violence under any circumstances. The strategy aims to criminalise all terrorist acts and deny terrorists, their financiers and supporters access to funds, weapons and safe havens.

    India will continue to work with the international community to counter terrorism, including addressing the misuse of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for terror activities. The policy also highlights investments in advanced technology and private sector partnerships to tackle future threats. Importantly, PRAHAAR rejects any attempt to link terrorism with religion, ethnicity, nationality or civilisation, while emphasising support for victims of terrorism.

    The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden in Srinagar, Asia’s largest tulip garden, opened on March 16, 2026, marking the beginning of the Kashmir Tulip Festival 2026. Spread across 74 acres at the foothills of the Zabarwan Range overlooking Dal Lake, the garden features over 1.8 million tulips in 70–75 varieties, creating a vibrant spring attraction.

    The festival showcases Kashmiri culture, music, handicrafts, and cuisine, and signals the start of the tourist season in Kashmir. Established in 2007, the garden plays a key role in boosting tourism and the local economy, attracting visitors from across India and abroad.

  • Madhya Pradesh: Home to the Highest Number of Vultures

    Madhya Pradesh has now become the state with the highest number of vultures in India. In a recent census conducted by the Forest Department, the vulture population reached 12,981. The census covered 16 circles, 64 divisions, and 9 protected areas in the state. Since the census began in 2016, the vulture population has steadily increased, from 8,397 in 2019 to 10,845 in 2024.

    There are 7 species of vultures in Madhya Pradesh, with 4 being local and 3 migratory. The winter season is ideal for conducting the census as both local and migratory vultures can be easily counted.

    Vultures are large birds of prey that primarily feed on carrion (dead animals). They play a crucial role in the ecosystem by cleaning up animal remains, which helps prevent the spread of diseases. Vultures have sharp beaks, strong talons, and excellent eyesight to locate food from great distances.

    11th National Handloom Day was celebrated on 7th August 2025 with the theme “Weaving Innovation into Tradition”.

    It marks the anniversary of the Swadeshi Movement (1905) and was first observed in 2015.

    President Droupadi Murmu led celebrations at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, which included:

    • Awards to 24 weavers
    • Launch of “Haat on Wheels” and Handloom Expo
    • Handloom Hackathon 2025 at IIT Delhi

    🧵 The handloom sector supports over 35 lakh workers, many of them women, and plays a key role in sustainable, eco-friendly fashion.

    Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha, revered as the remover of obstacles and the god of wisdom and prosperity.
