India Beat England by 6 Runs in Final Test, Series Ends 2–2

On 4 August 2025, India defeated England by 6 runs in a thrilling final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at The Oval, London, leveling the five-match series 2–2.

Chasing 374, England was bowled out for 367, with Mohammed Siraj starring for India by taking 9 wickets in the match, including 5 in the second innings. He was named Player of the Match.

India had scored 396 in their second innings, after trailing in the first. Shubman Gill (India) and Harry Brook (England) were named Players of the Series.

    The strategy supports the Government of India’s Asset Monetisation Plan (2025–30) and marks a shift to sustainable, market-driven infrastructure financing.

  • PM Narendra Modi Becomes India’s Second-Longest Serving Prime Minister in Consecutive Terms

    On 25 July 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi became India’s second-longest-serving PM in consecutive terms, surpassing Indira Gandhi’s 4,077 days with 4,078 days in office. He first took office on 26 May 2014 and has served 11 years and 60 days.

    PM Modi is the first non-Congress PM to complete two full terms and win a third with a majority. He is also the longest-serving PM from a non-Hindi-speaking state and the only post-Independence-born PM to achieve this milestone. His leadership marks six consecutive election wins — three in Gujarat and three in Lok Sabha polls.

  • Co-location of Anganwadi Centres with Schools: Govt Issues Guidelines

    On 3 September 2025, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Union WCD Minister Annapurna Devi launched the Guidelines for Co-location of Anganwadi Centres with Schools at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

    • The initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to ensure holistic care for mothers and children and to strengthen early learning foundations.
    • Anganwadi workers were recognised as the first teachers in a child’s life, with emphasis on using AI and technology to promote Indian languages.
    • The guidelines aim for:
      • Smooth transition of children from Anganwadis to schools
      • Improved health, nutrition, and retention in primary education
    • Nearly 2 lakh schools will be connected with broadband in the next three years to boost digital learning.
    • The programme stresses community participation and integration with NIPUN Bharat and Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi initiatives.
  • Jasprit Bumrah wins Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy as ICC men’s cricketer of the year 2024

    Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been honored with the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year 2024, recognizing his exceptional performance across all cricket formats.

    Bumrah becomes the first Indian pacer to win this award, joining an elite list of Indian cricketers that includes Rahul Dravid (2004), Sachin Tendulkar (2010), Ravichandran Ashwin (2016), and Virat Kohli (2017, 2018). 

    Bumrah played a crucial role in India’s T20 World Cup victory in 2024, emerging as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker. Additionally, he dominated Test cricket with 71 wickets in 13 matches, the highest by any bowler in 2024. Despite strong competition, Bumrah also won the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year award.

  • Book Release – The Sage who Reimagined Hinduism by Dr. Shashi Tharoor

    Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan formally released the latest book authored by Member of Parliament Dr. Shashi Tharoor, titled “The Sage who Reimagined Hinduism: The Life, Lessons and Legacy of Sree Narayana Guru.” The launch ceremony was held on February 19, 2026 at the India International Centre (IIC) in New Delhi.

    About the Book

    • The biography chronicles the life and teachings of Sree Narayana Guru, the 19th-century social reformer and spiritual leader from Kerala.
    • It highlights Guru’s fight against caste discrimination and his vision of social equality, encapsulated in his famous message: “One caste, one religion, one God for mankind.”
    • Dr. Tharoor positions Narayana Guru as a thinker who reshaped Hinduism into a more inclusive and egalitarian faith, making his legacy relevant for contemporary India.

    Key Highlights from the Release

    • Vice President Radhakrishnan praised the book as a bridge between generations, ensuring Guru’s philosophy reaches a global audience.
    • He noted that contributions of reformers like Narayana Guru have often been underrepresented in international academic discourse, and this work helps fill that gap.
    • The book was first unveiled at Sivagiri Mutt, the hermitage founded by Narayana Guru, before its formal release in New Delhi.
  • Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) Inaugurated at 7 Major Airports in India

    Inauguration of Fast Track Immigration: Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the ‘Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP)’ on 16 January 2025 at airports in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Cochin, and Ahmedabad.

    Objective: The programme aims to provide seamless and secure world-class immigration facilities for international travellers.

    Registration Process:

    Applicants must register online on ftittp.mha.gov.in, fill in their details, and upload required documents. Biometric data will be captured at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or while passing through the airport.

    E-Gate Process:

    Registered travellers will scan their airline boarding pass and passport at e-gates. Biometrics will be authenticated at both arrival and departure points, and upon successful authentication, the e-gate will open, granting immigration clearance.

    Expansion Plan: FTI-TTP will be implemented at 21 major airports across India.

    Programme Launch: The programme was initially launched by Amit Shah in June 2024 at Terminal-3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), New Delhi.
