India Wins Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025

On 24 November 2025, the Indian Women’s Kabaddi Team won the Kabaddi World Cup 2025 by defeating Chinese Taipei in the final with a score of 35–28 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

With this win, India claimed its second consecutive World Cup title and remained undefeated throughout the tournament, marking a significant achievement in women’s sports.

  • Google to Build Largest AI and Data Infrastructure Hub Outside the U.S. in Visakhapatnam

    In October 2025, Google announced a $15 billion investment to build its largest AI and data infrastructure hub outside the U.S. in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, in partnership with Adani Group and Bharti Airtel.

    The 1-gigawatt data center campus, powered by renewable energy and supported by subsea cable and fiber networks, will enhance AI, cloud, and digital infrastructure in India.

  • Govt Revokes Security Clearance of Celebi Airport Services India Over National Security Concerns

    On May 15, 2025, the Indian government revoked the security clearance of Celebi Airport Services India Pvt. Ltd., a Turkish ground handling firm, with immediate effect, citing national security concerns. Turkey and Azerbaijan backed Pakistan and condemned India’s strikes on terror camps.

    • The clearance had been granted by the Director General of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) in November 2022.
    • Celebi Aviation was operating in nine Indian cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Goa, Cochin, and Kannur, providing passenger handling, cargo services, aerobridge management, and other airport-related services.

    Following the directive:

    • Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has terminated its association with Celebi entities at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).
    • Alternative ground handling services are being coordinated with AISATS and Bird Group.
    • For cargo operations, DIAL is onboarding a pre-approved cargo handler to avoid disruption.
    • All Celebi employees at IGIA will be retained by the new employer under existing terms and conditions to ensure smooth transition and operational continuity.
  • UK Returns Chagos Islands to Mauritius; Diego Garcia Base Leased Back for 99 Years

    On 22 May 2025, the United Kingdom signed an agreement transferring sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius, resolving a long-standing territorial dispute. In return, the UK will lease back the Diego Garcia military base for $136 million per year for at least 99 years, ensuring continued operation of the US-UK base, which is vital for British security and counter-terrorism efforts.

    UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized the base’s importance to national safety and intelligence operations. The Chagos Islands, formerly part of British Indian Ocean Territory, were separated from Mauritius in 1965, and inhabitants were forcibly removed for the construction of the US base.

    India welcomed the treaty, calling it a milestone in the decolonization of Mauritius and a step towards upholding international law and sovereignty. India reaffirmed its support for Mauritius’s legitimate claim and committed to enhancing maritime security and stability in the Indian Ocean region.

  • AIKEYME 2025 Begins in Tanzania: Indian Navy Joins African Nations for Maritime Drill

    Africa India Key Maritime Engagement (AIKEYME), a multilateral maritime exercise, began on 13 April 2025 in Tanzania and will conclude on 18 April 2025. The exercise focuses on collaborative solutions to regional maritime challenges.

    Participating countries include Comoros, Djibouti, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, South Africa, and India. The Indian Navy is represented by INS Chennai, INS Kesari (a Landing Ship Tank), and INS Sunayna.

    The harbour phase features an inauguration ceremony and deck reception, while the sea phase (16–18 April) emphasizes strengthening maritime security cooperation.
