Shubman Gill to be Named BCCI Cricketer of the Year at BCCI Annual Awards 2026

India’s Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill is set to be named Cricketer of the Year at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Annual Awards 2026, scheduled to be held in New Delhi on 15 March 2026. Gill had an outstanding season, scoring 983 runs in Tests and 490 runs in ODIs, including key performances in India’s ICC Champions Trophy title-winning campaign. Across formats, he accumulated 1,764 runs with seven centuries and three fifties.

Meanwhile, former India head coach Rahul Dravid will receive the prestigious Col CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award for his immense contribution to Indian cricket, including guiding the team to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title. The Mumbai Cricket Association is also set to be honoured as the Best Association in domestic cricket.

    India successfully conducted a salvo launch of two ‘Pralay’ surface-to-surface missiles off the Odisha coast on 31 December 2025. The test, conducted by DRDO, was a part of user evaluation trials and was witnessed by officers from the Indian Air Force, Indian Army, and industry representatives, including development and production partners.

    ‘Pralay’ is an indigenously developed short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) with a strike range of 150–500 km. It uses solid propellant, supports multiple types of warheads, and features advanced guidance and navigation systems for high accuracy. Its quasi-ballistic capability enhances survivability against interception, making it a significant boost to India’s tactical strike capabilities.
