Former India batter Gautam Gambhir has been appointed as the head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on July 9, 2024.
Gambhir signed a three-year contract, succeeding Rahul Dravid. He was selected over W.V. Raman by the Cricket Advisory Committee, headed by Ashok Malhotra.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah welcomed Gambhir on social media, praising his vision and experience.
Gambhir’s term begins this month and will last until December 31, 2027, coinciding with the next ODI World Cup.
