The organisers of the 2026 Commonwealth Games have decided to reduce the number of sports to just 10, removing prominent sports like hockey, badminton, wrestling, cricket, squash, and shooting to manage financial and operational risks while maintaining a multi-sport feel.
The 23rd edition of the Games will be held in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 2, 2026, across four venues. Approximately 3,000 athletes from 74 Commonwealth nations and territories, including India, will participate in the event.
