On November 17, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honored with Nigeria’s ‘Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger’ award. In his speech, he humbly dedicated the award to the people of India.
He announced India’s support for Nigeria with 20 tonnes of humanitarian aid for flood relief and congratulated Nigeria on becoming a BRICS partner country. Modi expressed confidence in India and Nigeria collaborating to address issues of the Global South.
Several MoUs were signed in the presence of Modi and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu. Earlier, PM Modi was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
