Senior IPS officer Ravi Sinha appointed as new chief of India’s external spy agency RAW

  • Senior IPS officer Ravi Sinha has been appointed as the chief of the country’s chief of external intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). Sinha will replace Samant Kumar Goel who will complete his four-year term on 30th June.
  • The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Sinha as Secretary, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) for a tenure of two years.
  • Sinha, a 1988 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre, is at present Special Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat.
  • Prior to his promotion, he was heading the operational wing of RAW. Sinha has worked extensively in Jammu and Kashmir, Northeast and other countries.
