- The Quad Leaders meeting to be held in Sydney next week has been canceled after US President Joe Biden withdrew from the programme.
- This was announced by the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese. The leaders of Australia, the United States, Japan and India were to meet in Sydney on 24 May. US President Biden was scheduled to address the federal parliament on 23 May.
- Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said he hoped to meet Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the G7 summit in Japan over the weekend.
